Retell 

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a war time flick centered around a German family during the second world war. the family consisted of two kids, a stay at home mother and a father who was a Nazi officer. The family moved to a new house due to the fathers promotion. after a few days of isolation the youngest of the the two children,Bruno decides to wonder through the forest behind his home he comes across a consternation camp where he make a unlikely friend with a young Jewish inmate. When Bruno finds out that he is moving to a new home Bruno hatches a plan with his new found friend to run away from home and live with Shmule, Bruno's new found friend. Unannounced to Bruno the final solution was under way leading to Bruno and Shmule's demise.

Reflect

I personally love this movie because it captures the true innocence of a curious child and i also like the fact that the movie dose not try for a happy endding but shows the sad truth of what happen during 
the end of the second world war.

Relate

I feel like The boy in the Striped Pajamas is like a retelling of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". i say this because Bruno and Shmule are like star-crossed  friends with a tragic end due to their background.

Crimea

Ukraine and Russia have been fighting over a section on the Ukraine due to the fact that  Crimea has a big population that is Pro-Russian government just as many people are Pro-Ukrainian government. this reminds me of the Cold War between Russia and the U.S.A the only deference is that in the Cold War they were fighting over how to governed Belgium not over who get Crimea

Connection: After his home town was destroyed Ishmael Beah was made in to a child solder at the age of 12 years old against his own will like in the movie Blood Diamond where rebel armies would raid small villages, rape and pillage then steal the remaining children and train them to use rifles. at one point the main character's child was forced into the army.

Challenges: Ishmael faced a few major challenges like having to adapt to the sudden army life with the intensive drugging a the constant fear of the general.along with that there was the rehab that he was suddenly placed in right after being hardened for war .

Concept: what i would take away from Ishmael would be that you shouldn't lose hope in something just because it has changed paths because there is always the possibility that it can come back for a second chance.

Change: the point where Ishmael made a major turnaround would be when he was placed in rehabilitation. Although he hated it at first he slowly became accustom and he slowly regained his morals and sanity. 

To This Day

walk the tight rope the end always in reach. if you fall get back up and run to the end then walk you can always reach the end even if you have to crawl

Obason, Joy Kogawa (Post #1)

The social issue in my novel so far would be alienation. Although the story is based around the  main character Naomi trying to recreate the passed of her family through memories and dreams. more specifically the one involving her aunt and recently deceased uncle. Along with there struggle through WWII in Canada. At a point in the story Naomi and Obasan come across picture from 1941 of Naomi's father and uncle in front of a boat the two of them made. following the discovery of the picture Naomi found out that it was moments before the R.C.M.P officers condemned the boat. Adding further insult to injury the R.C.M.P decided to arrested all the Japanese fishermen on sight and impounded their whole fleet. there is also the packages that Naomi explains as "the light that shines in the lives of the Nisei, in their desperation to prove themselves Canadian" this is foreshadowing the hardships and degeneration of Japanese Canadians to come.
